Sapota fruits are Tropical climatic fruits and need to be artificially ripened. And they are highly perishable and can be stored for a period of 5 to5 days. It can be stored in a refrigerator for a period of more than 15 days.
The skin of Sapota fruit will be rough, but the flesh of the fruit inside will be honey coloured having a sweet taste and a different smell/ flavour. There will be black seeds in the center of the fruit. Seedless Sapota fruits are also available. You have to wash the Sapota fruit and remove the seeds and eat. Or you can make a delicious sapota milk shake. Eating Sapota fruits and drinking Sapota Juice or Sapota Milk shake will help in reduced risk of :-

- Iron:1.3 mg
- Calcium:28 mg
- Phosphorus:27 mg
Sapota is the source of “Chicle”, the principle ingredient in chewing gum. The chicle is extracted from the trunk of the Sapota tree as a white latex.
