The Union Government of India has so far sanctioned 40 “Textile Parks” in different parts of the country and 15 more are in the pipeline.
The parks are intended to provide the industry with world-class infrastructure to meet international environmental and social standards and each would normally have 50 units.
Of the 40 sanctioned textile parks:-
- 10 are in Maharashtra
- 7 are in Gujarat,
- 6 are in Tamil Nadu
- 6 are in Andhra Pradesh
- 4 are in Rajasthan
- 2 are in Punjab
- 2 are in West Bengal
- 1 is in Karnataka
- 1 is in Assam
- 1 is in Madhya Pradesh
A delegation of Silk Weavers and Exporters from Kancheepuram, in Tamilnadu, and presented a Memorandum to the Union Textiles Minister Mr. Dayanidhi Maran in Newdelhi.
The Union Textiles Minister assured that the Government would consider setting up of an “integrated textiles park exclusively for the Silk industry” at Kancheepuram, the “Silk City” of Tamilnadu.
