List of Banks in India Recruiting Clerical and Officer- Staff by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection -Common Written Examination ( IBPS – CWE )

Banks in India can be broadly divided into two categories, namely, Public Sector and Private Sector Banks.

Banks in both the sectors in India recruit employees in Clerical and Officers Cadres.

Banking Service Recruitment Board/ BSRB has been conducting Written Examinations and Interviews for the recruitment of employees in Clerical Cadre for some Public Sector Banks in India.

Some Public Sector Banks conduct Written Examinations and Interviews to recruit employees in various cadres.

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection/IBPS  has now taken the job of  conducting  the Written Examinations for the recruitment of employees for the following 19 Public Sector Banks from  July 2011:


  • Allahabad Bank
  • Andhra Bank
  • Bank of Baroda
  • Bank of Maharashtra
  • Bank of India
  • Canara Bank
  • Central Bank of India
  • Corporation Bank
  • Dena Bank
  • Indian Bank
  • Indian Overseas Bank
  • Oriental Bank of Commerce
  • Punjab National Bank
  • Punjab & Sind Bank
  • Syndicate Bank
  • UCO Bank
  • Union Bank of India
  • United Bank of India
  • Vijaya Bank
The IBPS will conduct Common Written Examination for the above 19 Banks for the posts of Probationary Officers, Specialist Officers and Clerks.

The Candidates declared successful in the IBPS CWE will be issued with Score Cards with a validity of one year.

The successful candidates of the IBPS CWE can apply for jobs in the above 19 banks.  Now, the IBPS CWE has become an ‘online examination’.

The banks will conduct personal interviews and further steps in the recruitment independently.

The following 2 Public Sector Banks conduct the Recruitment independently:


  • State Bank of India (SBI) and 

  • Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI)
The above two Banks recruit candidates through Public Notifications in the Leading News Papers and in their websites and conduct their complete Recruitment Procedures of  written Test, Interview etc independently.

Some of the above Private Banks recruit employees by Consultants and directly through News Papers Advertisements.
