Indian – American Astronaut Ms.Sunita Williams Landed Back on Earth with a New Record in Space

The NASA -Astronuat  Ms. Sunita Willams is the daughter of an Indian-American father of Gujarath.

Ms.Sunita Williams is the  second woman of Indian origin  to have been selected by NASA for a space mission after Ms. Kalpana  Chawla and  the second astronaut of Slovenian heritage after Ronald M. Sega.

Ms. Sunita Williams  was the commander of ‘Expedition 33’-the trio  which had blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on 15th July 2012  to the International Space Station has  landed back on earth-   northeast of  Arkalyk in the steppes of Kazakhstan at 8:56 p.m. on 18th November 2012 .


Ms.Sunita Williams has returned to earth  after 127 days in space  with a new record  of the most spacewalking time by a female  at 50 hours and 40 minutes  over seven career excursions.

Sunita Williams has logged 322 days during two space flights making her the second on the list of most  experienced US female astronauts.

Sunita Williams  also holds the record of  the  longest spaceflight (195 days) for female space travellers.
