Bollywood’s Popular Villain “Pran” To Receive “Dada Saheb Phalke Award”-2012

“Dadasaheb Phalke Award” is the highest and the most prestigious award in Indian Cinema world awarded annually  by the Government of India from the year 1969, for lifetime contribution to Indian Cinema.

From the year 2005, the  Dadasaheb Phalke Award” consists of the following :

  • A Medal – Swarna Kamal /Golden Lotus
  • Rs 10 Lakhs Cash and
  • A shawl.

Bollywood’s popular villain Pran, who is 93 years old now, has been named as the reciepient of the  “Dadasaheb Phalke Award”for the year 2012.

Pran Krishan Sikand, popularly known as Pran had been acting as a villain in more tha 350 Hindi Movies, mostly as a villain and in some movies in character roles, from the year 1940 to 1990.  Pran had been one of the leading Bollywood villain from 195 to 1980. Pran was known as the “Villain of the Millennium”.

After 1990  Pran stopped acting in movies due to his health conditions and age -related problems such as  shivering of legs.

However as requested by Amitabh Bachchan,  Pran acted in Amitabh Bachchan’s own movies, ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ and’ Mrityudata’, in the years 1996-97.

After the years 2000 Pran had made only a few guest appearances.
